Oh Scrappy Scraps

The time has come for Christmas decorating. Time to spend hundreds of $$$ on wreaths, garland, ornaments, lights, glitter, bling...who has the black American Express?? Yeah not this girl. I gringe at the thought of spending more than $15 on one decoration. And at the $15, that bad boy better light up and sing "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas."

However, I'm on a budget and it's not expandable as far as decorations are concerned. Plus there are so many items around my house that I can use.

While browsing through Etsy stores, Pinterest and other great sites, I came across the fabric wreaths. Some sale at the tune of $45.00!! Do you know how many spools of ribbon I could buy? (I use that as a reference because I am a Bow Godess and if I list the number of Starbuck's coffees I will actually get I might look a little snooty!) I can get 75yds of beautiful grosgrain ribbon. I can make 22 of my fave signature hair bows. I could put a big ole smile on 22 sweet little diva faces and let's not forget how happy a bow makes a mommy, nana, mimi, granny...etc!

So let's get back on track. The only thing I had to purchase for this little D.I.Y is the metal wreath. I found this at my local craft store. She sold at the sweet price of $1.99. If you shop at Hobby Lobby, you can print off the 40% off one item coupon per week and purchase the wreath for $1.20. Just keeps getting better!

The fabric is in abundance in this house. I use it for various projects so I did not have to make a purchase. If you have ZERO fabric, consider using old t-shirts or clothing. If not, you can purchase 18" x 21" squares these days. Sometimes they are packaged in groups of 5-7 squares and by theme.

Cut/tear the strips at least 2" wide and 20" long. I would not go any shorter to keep the knot tying easy.

There are 4 rings on the wreath, I only used 3.

1st Ring: 12 pieces per section = 48 total
2nd Ring: 10 pieces per section = 40 total
4th Ring: 9 pieces per section = 36 total

124 pieces all together

Ingredients for Wreath Perfection:

How fabulous is that bad boy! I love how it turned out. The fabric I used was bright and cheerful with a "childish" touch. For a family with children this is awesome because they can find the snowmen, santa faces, snowflakes and more.

The bow I used, well that's actually a hair bow that I clipped onto the fabric, easy peasy!
